Annual Reports Part Thirteen







1968 was another BIG year for North Central Airlines. The 'New Look' in aircraft livery, uniforms and promotional/advertising items was introduced. The General Offices and Main Hanger Bays were almost completed and the company was reaping wonderful benefits from it's finances. It was also the company's 20th Anniversary which was celebrated with the famous 'Anniversary Flight' of all of the aircraft the company had flown since 1948. All was well at NCA...:)

I'm baaaaaaack....


Hello everyone, It's good to be back but I must say, I was happy to get away for a short time anyway. I thought about the blog while I was gone and am thinking of new ideas/posts to add. I've also received some suggestions to post more Republic Airlines stories/photos and I'll certainly do so in the coming weeks and months. KEEP THOSE SUGGESTIONS COMING! Without you, and your input, support and ideas, we'd have to write about Northwest! (KIDDING). More soon...Peder

Annual Reports Part Twelve









1967...wow, a HUGE year for North Central Airlines. Not only did the first DC-9's come on line from Douglas, but the Convairs were being converted to 580 status and subsequently, were introduced to the public with the 'New Look' livery of blue, aqua and gold. There was also a huge advertising blitz to promote the company's new look as well as it's 'Jet Service' fleet. Enjoy!

Annual Reports Part Eleven






1966...yet another BIG year for North Central Airlines. That being the order was placed for the first new DC-9's, the Convair fleet was about to begin conversion from 340/440 to 580 status and the company was looking forward to the groundbreaking and subsequent construction of the General Offices and Hangers at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Along with all of this, the 'New Look' was about to be introduced (the aqua, blue and gold trim livery). Needless to say, anticipations were HIGH that year...:)

Annual Reports Part Ten






1965 was an 'anticipatory' year for North Central Airlines. With the advent of the Jet Program, the purchase of the new DC-9 was starting, along with the preparation for the Convairs to be fitted with Allison engines, hence converting to '580' status. A great deal was happening! See the photos from The Annual Report above. :) Included is the popular photo, 'Convair Line-Up' from Chicago as well as an artists depiction of what the DC-9's, and the airline's, new livery will be.

Progress on the 'Interviews'


Hello everyone! I'm happy to report that the process of 'interviewing' former North Central and Republic (and even Wisconsin Central!) Employees is moving along nicely. The questions list is quite easy to complete and only takes a few minutes, only depending on the stories you tell as well! Questions lists are sent out by email or can be mailed by the Postal Service if you'd prefer that. It would be my hope to meet local (MSP) retirees for these interviews/questions and we're moving along on that as well. THANK YOU for your continued responses and participation but we've a long way to go! Contact me if you haven't already and we'll go from there...Peder

CALLING ALL FORMER EMPLOYEES ! ! !


Hello all, I've contemplated something for some time now and wanted to just 'throw it out there' and see what transpires.
I'd like to begin 'interviewing' former North Central Airlines and Republic Airlines employees for stories to add to this blog, along with the possibility of a BOOK in the future. The stories I've heard over the years from employees, and even passengers, are priceless. Take it from me, I've a few myself! I'm in the process of compiling a list of different questions along with some recording devices in order for this to run smoothly. Of note too, if you'd like to participate, but wish to remain anonymous, that's just fine! The goal is to compile as much as possible. Be you a Passenger Service Agent, a Pilot, a Flight Attendant, a Crew Scheduler, a Mechanic or any other position, I WELCOME YOU ALL! Your stories can be serious, funny, amazing, strange, what have you.
